Lift cables, drums & bottom bracketsCable repair
When a cable lets go, the door goes crooked
Lift cables run from the bottom corners of the door up to the drums on the spring bar. They do the actual lifting. When one frays, slips off its drum or snaps, that side of the door drops and the door hangs crooked or jams in the tracks.
Cables usually fail because they are old and rusted, because a spring broke and the load shifted, or because the door was forced while stuck. We find out which, so the new cables do not fail the same way.

Questions
Cable Repair FAQ
Is it safe to use the door with a broken cable?
No. With one cable gone the door is unbalanced and can twist out of the tracks or fall. Stop using it and call us.
Should both cables be replaced?
Usually yes. Both cables have the same age and wear, so we replace them as a pair to keep the door lifting evenly.
Why did my cable snap?
Most often from age and rust, a broken spring shifting the load, or a stuck door being forced. Your technician checks for the cause.
Do you fix the tracks too?
Yes. If the door came off its tracks, we straighten or replace bent track sections and reset the rollers.
